The hotel is old fashioned and charming. The bathrooms are in need of an upgrade both fixtures and lighting. But it’s quirky ways also are the very thing that makes it charming. I would ask for a room furthest away from Via Nationale as that street can be loud at night. They have a nice breakfast each morning w an option to eat in the outdoor courtyard. The staff are excellent in every way. The included breakfast was also better than most hotel breakfasts. The location is ideal, just steps from the main piazza. My wife and I stayed in a Classic room with air conditioning (an excellent room, we really liked it) at this 4-star hotel located in the heart of Cortona's historic center, within the historic 15th-century Palazzo Baldelli, just steps from the main squares, the Signorelli Theater, and the MAEC (Museum of the Etruscan Academy). It's also less than 100 meters from the Congress Center. It's the only hotel in the historic center with private parking, accessible for guests through the city gate on Via Guelfa. The hotel has a 24-hour reception, an elevator, a very good, generous breakfast buffet with a wide selection of sweet and savory items, an on-site bar, and a wellness area with a hot tub. It offers 40 unique rooms equipped with modern amenities, wooden beams, free Wi-Fi, and, in some cases, hot tubs or views of the Val di Chiana. All rooms are air-conditioned. All the hotel and reception staff are welcoming, smiling, competent, professional, friendly, and helpful. Prices are expensive but fair for the quality of the hotel. The vibe of the hotel is olde worldy. The rooms are comfortable with a good amount of space. Bed 🛌 was firm but OK. The room had tea and coffee ☕️ and a kettle but no mugs or teaspoons. A bit weird. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Getting lost is not an option. 😀 The room was fine but especially the bathroom was a bit outdated. La nostra era ben insonorizzata. Nella stanza affianco c’era un neonato ma non abbiamo sentito nulla. Dormito con la finestra aperta ed era tranquillissimo. Ottima la colazione. La struttura si trova in Via Guelfa 15, nel cuore del centro storico, all’interno dello splendido e monumentale Palazzo Baldelli del XV secolo: un edificio di grande fascino, ricco di storia, carattere ed eleganza, perfettamente inserito nell’atmosfera unica di Cortona. Il personale è stato gentilissimo, disponibile e sempre attento. Un ringraziamento particolare a tutto lo staff, che con grande cortesia, professionalità e calore hanno contribuito a rendere il nostro soggiorno ancora più piacevole. La nostra camera offriva uno scorcio davvero meraviglioso, con una vista suggestiva sulla Valdichiana e, in lontananza, anche su una parte del Lago Trasimeno. Un panorama emozionante, capace di regalare una sensazione immediata di benessere e tranquillità. La colazione è buonissima, molto ricca, varia e curata, servita in uno splendido chiostro interno, davvero meraviglioso sia per iniziare la giornata sia per concedersi un momento di relax. Tutto l’hotel trasmette una profonda sensazione di pace: è un luogo ameno, raccolto e silenzioso, ideale per staccare dalla quotidianità e ritrovare un completo equilibrio. Anche Cortona ci ha conquistati: una città meravigliosa, elegante, ricca di storia, arte e scorci indimenticabili. The atmosphere was good and the staff extremely helpful and efficient. The room was fine for a 16th Century building but I was worried about slipping when using the shower in the bath. The hotel was very clean and the noise level fine. We had a warm welcome on arrival, it’s only steps away from the main piazzas with loads of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The hotel staff were friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast was lovely with a nice little courtyard to sit in and enjoy the fresh air. Our transfers and laundry were organised with ease. It’s an old hotel in an old town so some things were a little in need of maintenance but nothing that affected our stay. Everything works! It just adds character, you can imagine it in its former life as a Palazzo. The room was a decent size and very quiet. Air con worked- important during an Italian summer heatwave.
